This watercolour drawing illustrates the Pagoda at Kew Gardens, designed by William Chambers in the Chinoiserie style which proved tremendously fashionable during the mid 18th century. Formed of ten octagonal storeys, each level diminishes in size as it rises, accentuating the depth of perspective accumulated from the height of the building.
