Soane Late: Hell and Back

Regular price £25.00

The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.
― John Milton, Paradise Lost

Come and explore all things infernal at our Soane Late: Hell and Back

During the evening you will have the opportunity to view the oldest printed book in Soane’s collection – a first edition of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. Also on display will be Joseph Michael Gandy’s drawing The Hall of Pandemonium from Milton’s Paradise Lost. To complement these special collection items there will be readings from both Dante’s Inferno and Milton’s Paradise Lost as well as a playlist especially curated for the evening.

Continue your journey through hell with a viewing of our temporary exhibition, Pablo Bronstein: Hell in its Heyday.  Environmentally Friendly Bearded Drag Lady Ms. Timberlina will explore the queer themes in Brontsein’s ambitious watercolours which imagine hell as a monumental city.  You will also have the opportunity to view the accompanying film Boutique Fantasque, which features a group of diabolical antique dealers performing a masked ballet.

The whole Museum is yours to explore and soak up the atmosphere. We encourage photography at these events (use hashtag #photothesoane on social media), and admission includes a glass of wine in the South Drawing Room.

Tickets available for arrival at either 18:00, 18:30, 19:30 or 20:00 and each slot lasts around 90 minutes.

Your confirmation email serves as your ticket.

Tickets are refundable up to 7 days before the event, after which point they are non-refundable or exchangeable.
