Join artist duo Langlands & Bell, judges of The Architecture Drawing Prize 2022, for a tour of the exhibition which showcases the winning and commended entries.

Now in its 6th year, The Architecture Drawing Prize was set up by Make Architects, Sir John Soane’s Museum and the World Architecture Festival to celebrate the significance of drawing as a tool in capturing and communicating architectural ideas. The prize, sponsored by Iris Ceramica Group, was established to celebrate and showcase the art and skill of architectural drawing in three categories: hand-drawn, hybrid and digital. This year the prize has attracted 138 entries with a strong majority of hand-drawn entries. As in previous years, the submissions are from around the world, attesting to the truly international nature of the prize and the great skill and originality of entrants.

About the speakers

Artists Ben Langlands & Nikki Bell explore the complex web of relationships linking people and architecture and the coded systems of communications and exchange we use to negotiate a fast changing technological world.

Langlands & Bell began collaborating in 1978 while still at art school in London. They are based in London and Kent and have exhibited widely internationally since the early 1980s. Their art examines human relations from the personal to the political by exploring the structures we inhabit and the networks of communication and exchange that surround us. Their art works  range from film, video and interactive digital media, to sculpture, installation, and full-scale architecture.

In 2002 Langlands & Bell were commissioned by the Imperial War Museum, London to research The Aftermath of September 11 and the War in Afghanistan.  They were awarded a BAFTA and shortlisted for the Turner Prize for The House of Osama bin Laden the trilogy of art works that resulted from their visit.
