London Directory Map 1792
Regular price £25.00
Individually handmade made in the family-run workshop of craftsman Phillip Burrough, this map is laid on high-quality cloth and beautifully presented in an antique marbled slip case.
1792 is the year in which Sir John Soane started to build No. 12 Lincoln's Inn Fields. The original map was created by Robert Sayer, a print seller and map publisher between the years 1751 and 1794. Folding maps came into being in the mid-18th century when turnpike roads became extensive and good enough to make long-distance travel easier.
Dimensions: 19x15 inches.
