A dramatically-lit Late offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some of the finest works amongst the drawings collected by Sir John Soane.
The Museum is at its most awe-inspiring after dark, its vast, eclectic collections lit spectacularly by spotlights. During Soane Lates: Hidden Masterpieces you will have the opportunity to view drawings which are usually kept in locked drawers and among carefully stored volumes at Sir John Soane’s Museum. This is an extension of our fabulous current exhibition with additional drawings on display, together with an introduction from the exhibition’s curator – Dr Frances Sands. Signed copies of her book Architectural Drawings: Hidden Masterpieces from Sir John Soane's Museum will also be available for purchase in the Museum Shop.
Away from the exhibition spaces, our expert guides will shed further light on this intriguing place as they present pop-up talks on their favourite artefacts, works of art and stories. Downstairs in the Kitchens, Sir John Soane's Museum will also be celebrating HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a display of royal memorabilia commemorating coronations and jubilees, from cups and plates to hairpins and bunting. These objects, lent by staff and the local community, show how the British public, from Soane’s time to our own, have participated in royal events through collecting souvenirs and memorabilia.
The whole Museum is yours to explore and soak up the atmosphere. We encourage photography at these events, and admission includes a glass of wine in the Library Dining Room.
