This drawing, one of a set of three, takes a detail that I felt to be typical of John Soane and the house he created, a curved distorting mirror set against the curved wall of the staircase, great fun to draw! The other two drawings in the set include a view of the house from Lincoln's Inn Fields and a view of the Breakfast Room, one of Soane's most complex interiors. The image is 170x120mm and is produced with the highest-quality archival inks on a textured archival fine art paper to convey all the qualities of the original drawing.
David lives and works in Cambridge, England, where he is, first and foremost, a practising architect. He has always had a fascination with Architecture and this inevitably translates into a desire to observe, record and analyse buildings and cities in all their beauty and richness. Whether at home in Cambridge or travelling, he is usually to be found with a camera and sketchbook close to hand, collecting ideas for both buildings and drawings. In addition to recording particular architectural and urban moments discovered while walking around cities, some of his prints present drawings of his own designs, made while studying architecture. Whether the buildings they portray exist or are only imagined his drawings and photographs tend to focus on the relationship between architecture and the city or on particular details that have caught his attention. David's full range of prints can be viewed and purchased at acbdprints.co.uk.
