The Journal of Stained Glass Volume XXVII' is a special issue of the annual publication of The British Society of Master Glass Painters and is a comprehensive review of the extensive and eclectic stained glass collection of the architect and collector Sir John Soane. It is beautifully illustrated with colour photographs and illustrations detailing one of the most unique collections of stained glass in the world. Since 1924 the Journal of Stained Glass has been produced annually by the British Society of Master Glass Painters to publish and promote research in stained glass. Soane?'s collection of stained glass was bought at auction and includes 14th-15th-16th and 17th-century glass from the Netherlands, France and Germany. His interest in coloured and stained glass stemmed from his obsession with light and the effects that it could create within an architectural setting. He was constantly experimenting with the way that light could be used in architecture to create different moods.
